Tips For Getting the Best Sun Tan

Posted in Facial Care   |   By

content Stherb

Many women enjoy having darker skin complexion or mostly called tanned skin because sun-kissed glow skin can offer a healthier look, making your curves and muscles more noticeable. That’s why sun bathing is getting popular each day. However, there are things that you need to be careful when it comes to sunbathing, ‘a sun damage’ that causes premature aging and skin cancer.  To prevent you from these conditions, follow these tips below.

Don’t Do Sunbeds

Some salon often claims that they can give you a healthy tan with a sunbed. That’s a lie because “It’s the wrong UV – tanning beds pump out huge amounts of UVA and virtually no UVB (which stimulates vitamin D), and can increase your risk of skin cancer by 75%” says Dr. Nick Lowe of The Cranley Clinic in London.

Sunscreen

Use the right sunscreen to protect your skin from sun exposure. Look for the one that provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA & UVB rays. We recommend St. Herb Sunscreen Nano Complex SPF50 PA+++ that offers excellent protection from significant sun damage which is easily absorbed, non-greasy and does not leave waxy film on your facial skin.

Understanding Tanning Time

Your skin reaches a tanning cut-off point when it physically can’t produce any more melanin, the tanning pigment, so it’s pointless to lounge by the pool all day. “Everyone has their own melanin cut-off, typically two to three hours or much less if you have fair skin” says Dr Lowe. “After this you’re just subjecting your skin to the risk of UV damage.”

Shade

“Taking breaks from the sun will reduce UV intensity and your sunburn risk and means your tan will be healthier and longer-lasting” says Dr. Frank Schwanke, Head of Suncare R&D for Beiersdorf.

Sun-Friendly Food

Certain foods are known to increase lycopene, the skin’s own SPF. An antioxidant found in tomatoes, and other red and orange fruit and veg can boost your sun protection by a whopping 33%. One of the best sources is tomato paste.

Hacks For Better Sleep at Night

Posted in Facial Care   |   By

content Stherb

A good night’s sleep is just as important as regular exercise and a healthy diet. Getting less than seven hours of sleep has been frequently linked to issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, and weight gain. If you are struggling with poor sleep, here are what you can do to restore your natural sleep cycles.

Get a Sense of What the Issue Is.

Identify what type of sleep issues you’re having and notice whether you’re having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Issues with falling asleep could indicate that your bedtime routine needs a revamp, and waking up at night may mean your blood sugar is dipping and you need to eat more carbohydrates during the day.

Start with Basic Sleep Hygiene.

You should be getting morning sunlight every morning, ideally by being outside for a half-hour or so. It’s best to do at the same time every day to get into a rhythm but should be done whenever you wake. For those who can’t get natural sunlight, use a light therapy lamp or some form of light at the beginning of the day.

Block Blue Light.

You’ll want to try to block blue light two to four hours before bed. Blue light can mess with your melatonin levels, making sleep more difficult, so consider using blue-light-blocking glasses or software on your computer to limit blue light exposure.

Give Ample Time to Wind Down.

If you’re having trouble falling asleep, you may need to alter your psychological winding down routine. This routine looks different for everyone—this could be meditating in darkness while for others this could be taking two hours to stop thinking about work.  So, it’s worth trying out different distractors to see what works for you.

Keep the Room Cool.

Sleeping in a colder room could be a recipe for great sleep. Keeping your room anywhere from 65 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit is a good place to start and see how you do.

Last thing you should also consider before going to bed is to treat yourself by applying a food face mask.  Helping yourself unwind from stress during the day by taking some time to chill out with St. Herb Facial Mask will make it easier for you to sleep.

This well exfoliating mask is suitable for all skin types, and can be used both for men and women.  The intensive ingredients are deeply helpful in rebalancing moisture level and relaxing skin muscles from tiredness for better restoration and improvement of skin.

Best Way To Remove Age Spots

Posted in Facial Care   |   By

Looking for ways to remove age spots? We have got your back. Having age spots might feel like a battle—to discover spots and freckles you could swear weren’t there yesterday. When it comes to freckles and dark spots, prevention is everything. However, we’re also fortunate enough to have tons of options to remove those annoying age spots before they get any worse.

Sunscreen

Not only will sunscreen prevent the age spots you already have from getting darker, but it will also keep future ones from forming. If you’re looking for a nice sunscreen that doesn’t sticky and easy to wash off, try St. Herb Sunscreen Nano Complex SPF50 PA+++. This sunscreen is designed to protect your skin from UVB from sunburn, melasma and polluted environmental damages as well as PA+++.

Lightening Creams and Serums

Lightening creams help to reduce age spots by suppressing the production of melanin. If you’d like to give this option a whirl, the active ingredients to look for are hydroquinone, glycolic acid, kojic acid, licorice root extract, and niacinamide. Hydroquinone is considered the gold standard of lightening, but is known for being harsher on the skin and may trigger side effects, such as skin irritation and rebound pigmentation if it’s applied for too long.

Cryotherapy

It freezes and destroys the pigment-making cells, causing the spots to flake off. As the skin heals, it appears lighter. This treatment is best for single age spots or small clusters of them and can be done a few times a month if necessary.

Intense pulsed light (IPL)

Hands down, the easiest and most effective option for age spots is IPL which uses light to target the color brown. It destroys the pigment, causing the age spot to turn darker and slough off after about a week.

Removing age spots can take lots of time and money. It’d be better to try more affordable ways. For that, we recommend St. Herb Facial Mask. This well exfoliating mask help you remove dead skin cells, rebalancing moisture level and decelerate skin deterioration, gradually clarifying skin to be glowing and supple.

Myths About Acne That Are Totally Wrong

Posted in Facial Care   |   By

content Stherb

At a young age, you probably learned most of your acne advice from your friends –some is right and some is wrong, and somehow you just believe that it is all true. Now, there’s no need to be misinformed about what causes adult acne because today, we have gathered 4 lies that you have heard about acne.

Chocolate Causes Breakouts

No food gives you acne. Acne is mostly due to heredity and hormones. Dairy and sugar, however, trigger an increase in insulin levels, which increases the number of androgens (male hormones) in your system. These are the hormones that can cause the large, painful cysts that tend to cluster around the jawline.

There is good news: Chocolate does not appear to be linked to acne. But to be safe, stick to dark chocolate low in sugar and dairy content.

Sunscreen Clogs Your Pores

Not all sunscreens will make adult acne worse, although some heavy sunscreens can clog pores. The solution is simple: Look for oil-free formulas. Lightweight fluid or liquid gel formulas dry quickly and don’t feel greasy.

Adult Acne Is Caused by Dirty Skin

The real culprits behind adult acne are hormones and heredity. The more abrasively you treat your skin, the worse you’re going to make your acne. Dermatologists uniformly recommend washing the skin gently with a mild cleanser that does not strip the skin of natural oils and letting the topical or oral medications balance the hormones and target the blemishes.

Don’t Go Near Any Oils If You Have Acne

Some oils, such as mineral oils, can be occlusive and clog your pores, but silicones, such as dimethicone, are also oils. They are used in ‘oil-free’ products and have a mattifying effect. The safest bet is to stick to products — lotions and makeup — that are designated “noncomedogenic” on the label; that ensures that they won’t clog pores.

To help you prevent acne, it is highly recommended to take good care of your facial skin daily, starting from a moisturizer. Try St. Herb Day Cream as it contains gentle moisturizing agents that will help moisturize your skin, promoting a radiant youthful-looking facial skin.

Does Tea Bag Really Reduce Puffy Eye?

Posted in Facial Care   |   By

content Stherb

Having puffy eyes after a rough night? Don’t worry, we got you covered. Puffy eyes can be caused from sleep deprivation, allergies or even hormone changes. It is a culprit that add years to your face. Want to get rid of it? Just go grab a tea bag. Yes, you’ve heard it right. Just follow the tricks down below.

You’re probably wondered how does tea bag works. Well, sipping tea is a nourishing treat for your body, but you can also use tea bags to help rejuvenate your skin.

Caffeine

It has been speculated that the caffeine in teas like green, black, white, and oolong can cause blood vessels in the eyes to shrink, lessening swelling around the eyes.

Cold Compress

Chilled tea bags also work as an affordable cold compress for the eyes, and eye doctors recommend these compresses to reduce swelling and redness. Tea bags make a great cold compress because they fit easily on the eyelid and stay in place if your head is tilted back.

Antioxidants

All teas and most herbal teas are rich in antioxidants. Using products with antioxidants on the skin may be beneficial in preventing or reducing skin inflammation.

How to Do?

Just steep two bags of tea as you usually would (in hot water for around 10 minutes), squeeze out any extra water from the tea bag, and then chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes (or until cool to touch). Then place the tea bags on your eyelids and sit back and relax for the next 20 to 30 minutes.

Another recommendation from us today is St. Herb Eye Gel. This one can also help you bring youthfulness back to your looks. With the well-selected ingredients formulated with Pueraria Mirifica Extract, it can work effectively in revitalizing the skin around eyes and reducing aging signs.
